Marie Carpentier defended her thesis “La légitimité démocratique de la justiciabilité du droit à la santé en droit québécois” in August 2023. Her thesis focuses on the democratic legitimacy of the justiciability of the right to health before Canadian and, particularly, Quebec courts. She uses the basket of health services, an object with a delimited outline, as a reification of the right to health.

Souhila Baba Ahmed is currently pursuing a master’s degree in law with thesis at ULaval under the direction of Professor Christine Vézina. Her master’s project consists of evaluating, in the city of Quebec, the needs in terms of access to justice in the context of the right to health. Her approach is part of a larger project leading to the creation of an interdisciplinary clinic with a human rights-based approach.

Valérie Kelly, LL.B (UQAM, 2017), LL.M. (Laval, 2021), is currently pursuing a doctorate in law at ULaval under the direction of Professor Marie-Claude Prémont and Patrick Taillon. Her doctoral research focuses on municipal reforms and land use planning law in the regulate urban sprawl, as well as their influences on socio-spatial inequalities and the environment.

She is interested in the right to fair and reasonable working conditions in the context of their work and seeks to assess their freedom of choice as to their place of residence.
